JUNE

"June marks the start of one of the best times to travel to both East and Southern Africa. Our favourites this month are Ruaha in Southern Tanzania and Zambia. The rains have just ended, leaving the bush lush, green and at its most beautiful, while the dry season begins to take hold — clearing the skies, firming up the roads and drawing wildlife steadily towards the rivers and waterholes. June an outstanding time to explore these two remarkable, less-travelled corners of Southern and East Africa"

WHERE TO GO IN JUNE

Southern Tanzania

June is one of the finest months to explore the remote wilderness areas of southern Tanzania. In Ruaha, the dry season brings extraordinary game viewing as lion, leopard and elephant concentrate along the shrinking Great Ruaha River, while the Selous (one of the largest and most pristine reserves in Africa) rewards those who make the journey with boat safaris along the Rufiji River, walking safaris through untouched bush and a profound sense of wilderness that the more visited northern parks simply cannot match. For those willing to venture off the beaten track, southern Tanzania in June is nothing short of exceptional.

WHERE TO GO IN JUNE

South Luangwa, Zambia

South Luangwa in June is as good as safari gets. The dry season is underway, the bush has thinned and wildlife congregates along the banks of the Luangwa River in breathtaking numbers. This is the home of the walking safari, pioneered here decades ago, and there is no better way to experience the African bush than on foot with an expert guide who knows every track, sound and footprint. Intimate, thrilling and deeply rewarding.
