Horse Riding Safaris

"There is nothing quite like the feeling of cantering across the open savannah on horseback, with a herd of zebra galloping alongside you and nothing between you and the horizon. It is one of those moments where you realise you are not just watching Africa - you are truly part of it."

Horse Riding Safaris

For those who have experienced it, a riding safari is simply the ultimate way to encounter the African bush. The engine noise falls away, replaced by the rhythm of hooves across the savannah, and suddenly you are moving through the landscape rather than observing it — at the same level as the wildlife, carried by the same instincts and just as much a part of the bush as everything around you. The experience ranges from day rides out of a lodge to multi-day mobile safaris with fly camping under the stars, and the riding itself is wonderfully varied — quietly walking alongside big game one moment, cantering freely across open plains the next. Most riding safaris are best suited to experienced riders comfortable in the saddle for several hours, though options exist for those with less experience. However you ride, Africa on horseback is something you will never forget.

“Riding on safari is an experience like no other. Moving through the African bush on horseback is to access a wilderness that no vehicle can reach, allowing you to get up close to animals and admire their beauty in its most natural form. The guides are fantastic, bringing not only their fantastic knowledge of the landscape and its inhabitants, but a warmth and fun that puts even the most nervous rider at ease.
What I love most is being able to canter through the picturesque landscape, whether it is the Masai Mara or Laikipia — taking in the idyllic scenery, all from the back of a horse. Riding on safari is, quite simply, very hard to beat” Georgie Fernandes – Mangwara
