JANUARY

"January is one of my favourite times in East Africa. The short rains have passed, the landscape is green and lush and the crowds have gone home after Christmas. Its a wonderful time to have the bush almost to yourself"

WHERE TO GO IN JANUARY

Seychelles

January is one of the finest months to be in the Seychelles. The Indian Ocean is calm, the skies are clear and the islands are at their most beautiful; all powder-white beaches, turquoise waters and lush tropical interiors. It is the kind of place that slows you down in the best possible way, and pairs perfectly with a safari extension for those who want to balance the bush with the beach.

Kenya

With the short rains behind it, January is one of the most ideal months to visit Amboseli. The short rains have passed, leaving the plains lush and green, and Kilimanjaro (Africa’s highest mountain) reveals itself in all its snow-capped glory against an endless blue sky. The elephants, some of the most studied and celebrated herds on the continent, move freely across the open floodplains in a landscape so beautiful it barely feels real. Iconic, unforgettable and utterly Kenyan

WHERE TO GO IN JANUARY

South Africa

January in the Kruger is one of the most rewarding times to experience this iconic park. The summer rains have transformed the bush into a vivid, lush green and the wildlife is abundant: newborn animals are everywhere, migratory birds arrive in spectacular numbers and the rivers run full and dramatic. Predators are active and well fed, and the long warm evenings carry that unmistakeable feeling of Africa at its most alive. A different side of the Kruger, and a wonderful one.
